    Gospel Market

Post by Linda on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:35 am

OK folks.......... Stan's already said he'll be putting out a gospel album to cater to that market.
So, what sort of songs do you think he would likely perform?
Any ideas apart from Amazing Grace & Hallelujah?

It is definitely more the USA market in my view - and also a rather narrow market. Not that I disagree with him putting out a gospel album - but if I was managing him, I'd recommend he wait a while - get a good solid STAN album out there first and establish himself.

I understand his personal connection to that market/genre, but he needs to play this carefully otherwise he will be seem as only a gospel singer, which will not give him the widespread market demographic he is capable of achieving.

Yep, a very good point. Perhaps get his own album out in March then perhaps some collabs then a chrissie album then a gospel ??
hmmmmmm morse Stan! Can't go wrong with that!

Stan is performing at the EasterFest 2010 in QLD, Australia's biggest gospel music festival.
I hear the will gather 15,000 ppl atthe festival this year.

Stan could be testing the audience or just doing what he loves. we know Stan is smart ... i tend to go with the first hypothesis.

Interesting enough, Krysta found this great link:

I know that the market is huge 'gospel' in USA with especially the televised church channels they do have over there that seem to get 100,000's but I think he should at the moment concentrate on just getting his next album out and maybe a few others and singles then when his established then maybe bring out a Gospel album I do love Gospel music though

Hmm, Stan Walker "the R&B soul singer" singing gospel. Can be done.
IMO he is very talented, and he can bring in a wider audience with gospel.

Actually i would love to hear him sing gospel, and who knows !!!! happy dance

    Stan and gospel......interesting idea.....why not.....
Think whatever Stan turns his hand to will work out well for him....especially as he has such a powerful belief in 'the man upstairs'.....Stan has so many goals he wants to achieve....whatever he decides, sure his decisions will be based on whatever doors 'the man upstairs' opens for him. His faith can cross many boundaries..... punk1

He can easily do a colaboration with hillsong, they sell a whole heap of songs, and they have a high production level.

    Fantastic! Great little clip.
He already has the backing of Hillsong. He's a regular visitor to the church. SO a christian album is a strong possibility.

i think stan will do a great job making a gospel album..
and i agree with Sarah.. i think he would write his own songs..
and base a lot of them on his journeys in life..
and how God helped him through each and every one..
he's so good at touching people's hearts through his music
and i think he'll move even more with a gospel album..
cos he'll be telling his story :)
but i would love to hear him sing a longer version of Jesus Loves Me.
like how Destiny's Child did it :)
