    New Ground Festival

Logan City’s own New Ground Festival has been announced. The inaugural New Ground Festival will bring together thousands of people to experience new sounds, new sights, new tastes!

Logan City is a young, fast growing city of over a quarter of a million people from over 170 diverse cultural backgrounds. The three founders of the festival, Bill Richards, Peter Forday and Greg Dodge decided that the time had come to “let the rest of the world in on one the best kept secrets in Australia - the vibrancy, creativity and cultural diversity that is Logan City!”

Henceforth, featuring a huge selection of national and local acts, all musicians and artists performing will reflect exactly this. With many more acts, including the local line up tba next week, the 1st round lineup has just been announced and features:

    · 2009 Australian Idol winner Stan Walker

    · Sudanese singer / storyteller Ajak Kwai

    · Sydney’s finest Reggae Rasta’s V Tribe

    · Brisbane’s own Kiwi reggae rock funksters Spacifix

    · + local Logan acts: Mayan Fox, Alan Boyle, Kitch, Gravel Road, Ebony Rose,

    · + Silk Girls Ensemble (China), Baala Baajo (Africa), Walisuma (Peru), Pantastic Steel Band (Carribean), Lance Coassin, Mixed Beans / Freedom Train Choir and many many more

    · Dance crews: Imanzi Rawandan Dancers, South Pacific Islands Dance Group, Zenith Dance Crew

As well as music and dance acts there will be a huge smorgasboard of multi-cultural food, arts and crafts.

    The Festival

For the past three years, festival founders Bill, Peter and Greg have been staging Dream It Up - an annual high school extravaganza that encourages Logan students to dream big about their futures. On the success of these events, the trio formed the not for profit Dream It Up Ltd and for the past two years, have been planning the New Ground Festival.

Dream It up Ltd then joined forces with the Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre (BEMAC). Jo Pratt, BEMAC’s Director and the festival’s Artistic Director explains that: “Over the coming years the New Ground Festival will be developed into a multi-day World Music, New Media, Film, Arts and Food Festival. It will be held annually and will be the key international signature event for Logan City, producing grounded cross-cultural collaborations across the arts, new media, film and food”.

Tickets are on sale now online and at selected venues around Logan City inc Logan PCYC.

Full line up TBC over the coming weeks.
